Lord Gahiji
Lord Gahiji, also given as Gahiji-Calder, is Chief Archon to Queen Helena-Chione of Wynid — known for political acumen rather than battlefield glory. He steadies her court until Thyra’s usurpation installs hardliners; after displacement he works as a residual investigator into Bekket’s Guillrameo network, whether Queen Zuberi’s line truly died out, and the red-dwarf “dominion” claims Uulana-Shoigu weaponizes.
Political operator for Helena
As chief archon, Gahiji manages the interface between Celestial high politics and the human client worlds of the Dominion, including intelligence lines that touch Gondiar and the wider Kelowan system. His strength is political acumen rather than battlefield glory: he is the institutional mind beside Helena’s queenship, balancing rival houses, navy interests, and the long game around Dolod’s approach.
Court shifts under Thyra
After Thyra’s mindline hijack, hardliners remake the court. Gahiji-Calder is replaced as chief archon by Uulana-Shoigu — later understood as an infiltrated identity (Iuntin-Detlef / Shoigu) tied to the same murderous networks that eliminated Uulana-Lyon. Gahiji does not vanish: he meets sidelined archon Makaio-Faraji and Jolav-Dabny, compares notes on red-dwarf “dominion” claims and the extinction of Queen Zuberi’s line, and tasks investigation of Uulana-Lyon’s fatal Uixic visit.
In that residual coalition he represents continuity of Helena-era caution against Thyra’s annexation recklessness. His exact leverage by the novel’s close is limited — the active board belongs to Helena-Thyra, Carolien’s crisis, and the Engine actors — but he remains a named node of opposition knowledge inside Wynid’s elite.
