Bekket
Bekket — mockingly called Oneshot — is the Uixic-linked father of Thyra and the power behind her court once she rules as Helena-Thyra. A coronation-night liaison with Queen Helena-Chione produces the congregant who will usurp Wynid; Bekket later reveals heritage truths that reframe her ambition and becomes master of a hardline court while his Guillrameo network murders investigators.
Coronation liaison and Thyra’s birth
Bekket is at Kelowan’s coronation when Luus-Kinza hands the imperial throne to Carolien-Amaia. Helena-Chione, next in Wynid’s rotation line, takes Lord Bekket of Uixic as a coronation-night partner, and Thyra is born the following year. The “Oneshot” nickname marks court sneer at a one-night dynastic gamble that pays out beyond anyone’s expectation, producing a congregant daughter with thought-shielding heritage and the will to kill through trials.
During the survival trial arc Bekket reveals aspects of Thyra’s true heritage — a private conversation that hardens her sense of destiny and links her genetically/politically to networks outside pure Helena-line legitimacy. Sibling rivals and archons who dig into that network (notably Uulana-Lyon) do not survive long.
Guillrameo network and Uulana-Lyon
When Uulana-Lyon investigates Bekket after Binji trial deaths, the trail leads to Uixic and Iuntin-Detlef, senior Guillrameo representative travelling with commercial cover that includes Liliana as Anoosha emissary. Uulana-Lyon’s ship is clandestinely slowballed and his sons die with him. Before he is killed he sees a gallery of familiar, seemingly cloned individuals, and the wreck is discarded at Tonobo. Later, Iuntin-Detlef appears as the infiltrated identity behind Uulana-Shoigu — the hardliner who replaces Gahiji-Calder as chief archon under Helena-Thyra.
Dagon is also revealed as Thyra’s uncle — binding the Gyvoy Enfoe imposture that steers Finn toward Dolod into the same extended family politics as Bekket’s rise. How much Bekket personally scripts the Engine, and how much he and Thyra simply exploit parallel plots, is never resolved; the family lattice is the through-line.
Master of the court under Helena-Thyra
After Thyra’s steam-room mindline hijack of Helena, Bekket is installed as master of the Wynid court. Hardline allies remake policy: annexation of Capo Frois and Uthara, false-flag talk, massed queen fleets at Kelowan, and navy lockdowns on Gondiar. Bekket’s role is institutional capture — not the neural coup itself, but the court machinery that makes the coup permanent.
Residual loyalists (Gahiji, Jolav-Dabny, Clavissa, Makaio-Faraji’s line) investigate around him rather than through open confrontation. By the novel’s close Helena-Thyra is strengthened amid Dominion chaos; Bekket remains the father-figure of that hardline settlement — the “Oneshot” who turned a coronation tryst into a dynasty war.
