Guillrameo network
The Guillrameo network is the Celestial family web behind Bekket of Uixic. Publicly it is minor provincial nobility from a world no queen has reason to watch; in practice it supplies Thyra’s paternal heritage, murders the archons who investigate it, and ends by holding the chief archon’s office in the court it helped seize. It is also the connective tissue between three plots the novel otherwise keeps apart: Thyra’s rise on Wynid, the assassination of Uulana-Lyon, and the Gyvoy Enfoe imposture that steers Finn toward Dolod.
A family behind a throne
The network enters the succession through one night. Bekket is at Kelowan for the coronation at which Luus-Kinza hands the imperial throne to Carolien-Amaia; Helena-Chione, next in Wynid’s rotation line, takes him as her coronation-night partner, and Thyra is born the following year. Court sneer names him “Oneshot”. What the sneer misses is that a Guillrameo lord has placed a daughter in a queen’s congregant line.
What the line passes down is not only a claim. The Uixic heritage carries covert neural gifts and biological traits whose use is court politics rather than ceremony: Thyra’s thought-shielding is her father’s side, and it is what lets her kill through the trials without being read. During the survival trial arc Bekket tells her aspects of that true heritage, tying her to the network rather than to Helena’s rotation alone — a lineage that sits outside the Accord’s legitimacy and hardens her sense of destiny. Commercial cover and the Uixic inquiry
Guillrameo travels as trade. Its senior representative, Iuntin-Detlef, moves under commercial cover, and Liliana appears beside him as a commercial emissary on Anoosha — the same pattern of deniable civilian identity the network uses at every level.
After his daughter Delfina dies in the Binji survival trial, Uulana-Lyon investigates Bekket and Thyra under trade pseudonyms of his own, and the trail leads to Uixic and to Iuntin-Detlef. Before he is killed he sees a gallery of familiar, seemingly cloned individuals. His ship is clandestinely slowballed, his sons die with him, and the wreck is discarded at Tonobo. The network answers an investigation not by closing ranks but by removing the investigator and his line.
Substituted identities
The gallery Uulana-Lyon glimpses is the method rather than a curiosity, and the method is what the network’s neural inheritance is for. Thyra’s coup is one instance of it — a mindline succession interfered with from inside, so that the queen who continues on the throne is not the queen the transfer was meant to continue. Infiltration is another. Iuntin-Detlef reappears as the identity behind Uulana-Shoigu, the hardliner who replaces Gahiji-Calder as chief archon under Helena-Thyra — so the network takes the investigating office as well as the officer, and from inside it weaponizes red-dwarf “dominion” claims against the court’s remaining moderates.
The same instrument runs through the human plot. Dagon is revealed as Thyra’s uncle, which binds the Gyvoy Enfoe imposture — the deal-maker who steers Finn toward Kingsnest software and Dolod — into the same extended family politics as Bekket’s rise. A substituted person is what Guillrameo has instead of a fleet.
The investigation that outlives its investigators
Three figures pursue the network and none of them closes it. Uulana-Lyon dies on the Uixic inquiry. Lord Gahiji, displaced from chief archon by the man who replaced him, works on as a residual investigator into Guillrameo, into whether Zuberi-Dulcina’s line truly died out, and into Uulana-Shoigu’s claims. Neusch, heir of the Makaio spymaster line, carries those requests forward and is still working toward Uixic during the naval endgame, sharing what he finds with Clavissa inside the hardline court.
How much Bekket personally scripts the Archimedes Engine plot, and how much he and Thyra simply exploit plots already running, is never resolved. The family lattice is the through-line the novel supplies in place of an answer.
