Polkadav
The Polkadav is the ship that gets the Jalgori-Tobus off Gondiar. While Josias flees with mercenaries aboard Andino’s disguised hull, the rest of the family takes the Polkadav out to meet the Diligent.
Escape after the broadcast
Josias’s mass strike broadcast triggers warrants, ghost units, and retaliatory airstrikes that kill the Marchioness and Everett’s wife Variaka. Zelinda shelters at Terence and Jimena’s villa and then escapes aboard the Polkadav; Otylia takes the same route out to rendezvous with the arkship.
The novel runs these departures as parallel flight paths — Andino’s disguised ship and the Polkadav waiting for the Diligent — while Thyra’s fleet arrives early at Kelowan and kestrel-sprite sabotage begins over the imperial palace.
Why it matters
The Polkadav is the vessel that converts a Uranic aristocratic family into arkship refugees. Once they are aboard the Diligent, the Jalgori-Tobus have no position left on Gondiar to return to, and the human liberation project stops being something they fund from a distance and becomes the only place they live.
