Andino

Andino is captain of the Traveler starship Arcadia’s Moon, a player in the novel’s deep-space salvage and endgame logistics whose help to human liberation actors is never free of shadow. Her allegiance to the rebellion stays enigmatic even when her tech support is real. She fights and bargains around the ZPZ race, ferries Josias and mercenaries under false identity, skyhooks a Dolod weapon package, and closes the book aiming to demonstrate a ~120,000 kt antimatter device near Capo Frois.

Traveler involvement

Travelers operate between Dominions as explorers, freighters, and deniable agents. Andino’s ship appears early when Marcellu and Traveler interests try to stop the Diligent from acquiring a ZPZ generator — a “random factor” some archons (Sahdiah) want removed from Cluster politics. At Terrik Papuan the Arcadia’s Moon tails the Lestari carrying Finn and Ellie; fire is exchanged; ghost fleets assault the salvage.

Later Andino is hired again in schemes to track and disable the Diligent’s ZPZ. Associates including Marcellu die by Liliana’s cherenkov blade, and Medusa is taken aboard after Sahdiah’s summons. Andino’s pattern is transactional: she shows up wherever high-value tech, corpses, or archon errands concentrate.

Ambiguous motives in the endgame

During the Gondiar collapse, Andino pilots the escape of Josias, Liliana, and Toše under a false ship identity. At Dolod, the Arcadia’s Moon observes Gyvoy’s station hop and skyhooks a weapon package — support that looks like rebellion logistics but may serve Traveler or third-archon balances of power.

The novel’s final beats send the Arcadia’s Moon toward Capo Frois with intent to demonstrate a massive antimatter device — a show of force that could deter Celestials, rewrite negotiation baselines, or simply mark Traveler independence. The novel never settles whether Andino is opportunistic, archon-tasked, liberation-curious, or all three by turn.
